Last week I noticed myself sneezing a bunch and complaining about a runny nose, watery eyes and a scratchy throat. I’m not sure why I was surprised, as my allergies seem to flare up like clockwork every spring and fall. I started taking the allergy medication that works for me and I have seen an improvement already.

Seasonal pet allergies flare up in the spring and fall, too, causing pets to rub and scratch just like their human family members do! Pet allergies can impact the respiratory system with symptoms such as sneezing, coughing, and asthma. Pet allergies can also involve skin reactions with a few signs listed below:

  • Excessive scratching or itching of the belly or feet
  • Repeated rubbing of a problematic area [face] on the carpet
  • Hot spots – red and raw patches where your dog may have chewed away fur
  • Odor from the ear [possible ear infection as a result of the allergy]

If your dog or cat is showing any symptoms like these, please schedule an online appointment or call us at 410.768.3620.
